Chris Blaser's profile

Course Route and Information for the Boston Marathon

Chris Blaser leverages a more than three-decade background in the newspaper industry to serve as vice president of audience and circulation at the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Beyond his professional endeavors, Chris Blaser maintains an active lifestyle by training for and participating in marathons. He has qualified for 15 Boston Marathons and raced in the iconic event 13 times.

This year's Boston Marathon was scheduled to be held on April 20 but was instead postponed to September and changed to a virtual marathon as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants can complete the 26.2-mile run in a single day at any location of their choice. Should the 2021 iteration of the marathon go ahead as planned, it would take place along the legendary course that starts on Main Street in Hopkinton and runs the communities of Ashland, Framingham, and Natick before ending near the Boston Public Library.

The route also passes by attractions like Lake Cochituate, Boston College, and the Charles River. With the exception of peaks in elevation between miles 16 and 21, it's largely a downhill race that begins at an elevation of around 450 feet and reaches near zero at the finish line. The route also includes digital clocks to mark every mile as well as multiple water and Red Cross stations.
